A special screening of an Oscar-nominated film will be held in Hucknall this week in aid of the National Federation of Women's Institutes.
The Arc Cinema will show 'Women Talking', which is nominated for Best Film at this year's 95th Academy Awards, on Wednesday March 8.
A special 'women in film' movie quiz will precede the screening.
Women Talking is a drama directed by Sarah Polley about Mennonite women who come together to decide on the next course of action after their religious colony is devastated by sexual violence.
The film stars Claire Foy (The Crown), Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose), Ben Whishaw (Paddington) and Frances McDormand (Three Billboards).
The Hucknall W.I. reached out to the cinema to see if it would collaborate for this year's International Women's Day, celebrated annually on March 8 across the globe, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
Kelly Golding, manager High Street cinema said she was delighted to team up with the local W.I.
"The cinema is very much community-focussed and tries to be as inclusive as possible and we felt those two qualities went hand-in-hand with what the W.I. stands for," she added.
Customers can buy tickets to either the 2pm or 7.30pm screening online now. The start time incudes the short 20-30 minute movie quiz.
The Hucknall W.I. will be in attendance to hand out literature, talk to customers about the community-based organisation and give fellow members complimentary popcorn.
