Five new family homes belonging to Ashfield District Council have been built in Hucknall and will soon welcome tenants.

The three two-bedroom and two three-bedroom homes are located on Barbara Square which is the third of four derelict sites to undergo regeneration in Hucknall.

This follows the completion of two sites on Hawthorne Avenue and Chatsworth Drive.

The development will support Ashfield District Council's ongoing ambition to regenerate underutilised and derelict sites across the District. This will help deliver on its promise to bring 100 new affordable, modern, energy efficient homes to the area over the next five years.

Construction on the fourth site in Hucknall, at Chestnut Grove, is currently underway and scheduled for completion this April. It will bring a further four family homes to the area.

Councillor Tom Hollis, Portfolio Holder for Housing, welcomed the completion of the new development. He said: "The development is a fantastic addition to the area, making better use of an underutilised site and adding to the Council's housing portfolio.

"We are investing in the future of Ashfield and will continue to provide quality housing for current and future generations. We are delighted to be delivering on yet another promise as we continue to build the first Council Houses for a generation."
