Train operator East Midlands Railway (EMR) has issued advice for Nottingham Forest and Mansfield Town supporters set to travel to London this weekend.

Steve Cooper's Forest take part in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Sunday (May 29), while Nigel Clough's Stags take on Port Vale in the League Two play-off final tomorrow, Saturday (May 28).

With Forest's 25-year-old captain Joe Worrall hailing from Hucknall, and the town home to a large number of Forest fans, there is sure to be plenty of interest in the showpiece fixtures at the national stadium.

EMR are expecting many thousands of supporters to make their way to the capital to back their teams in the two season-defining fixtures for the pair.

This has led to EMR putting on extra staff and drafting additional carriages on trains serving between the two destinations. The operator has also said it will be running a full timetable.

Customers are asked to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journey

Neil Grabham, Customer Services Director, said: "We want everyone travelling this weekend to have a safe and enjoyable experience.

"However, it is clear some of our services - particularly in the morning and immediately after the matches - will be very busy. We will be doing everything we can to help those travelling, including providing extra staff at key stations and strengthening services with additional carriages where possible.

"We ask our customers to also take sensible steps to help their journey by planning ahead, leaving extra time and considering slightly different routes for getting to and from London.

"More information, including our journey planner and timetables are available on our website, www.eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk."
