Event of the week: Childhood cancer awareness cake sale

This week's event of the week is a charity cake sale to raise money for, and awareness of, childhood cancer. It will take place this Saturday (18 September) between 12pm and 4pm at St Peter & St Paul's Church Hall on Ruffs Estate in Hucknall. Further information about the event, can be found here .

The event is being organised by Nicola Barksby whose son Jake was diagnosed with testicular cancer two years ago, when he was just six years old. He is now in remission. You can read more about their story here .

Another exciting event this weekend is the free open day being run by Nottingham Heritage Vehicles Charity. It marks their first open day since the Coronavirus pandemic struck this country. The event will take place at their base in the former Trent Barton depot just off Portland Road this Saturday and Sunday (18 & 19 September) from 10am until 4pm on both days.
