Today (Tuesday 16 November) marks the final opportunity for people to sign the e-petition opposing Ashfield District Council's proposals to build on the greenbelt land at Whyburn Farm in Hucknall.
The e-petition has already garnered over 3000 signatures but is still open until 11:45pm. This is an extension of the original deadline which was on Friday (12 November), due to a server error on Ashfield District Council's website which prevented many people from signing.
The technical issue has now been resolved and residents have been given a bit of extra time to compensate for the inconvenience and ensure everyone who wants to, has time to sign it.
Yesterday (Monday 15 November), a group of residents delivered the paper petitions to the Ashfield District Council offices in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, Mandy Shaw who started the petition said: "We handed it in. It was a relief in one way but in another way, I was quite sad because I would have liked to have got it to 10,000.
"We've only had five and a half weeks, if we'd had just that little bit longer I think we could have got it to 10,000."
Currently the combined total of signatures across the different formats of the petition is around 7500.
Asked what she'd say to someone considering signing the e-petition, Mrs Shaw said: "Don't hesitate. If you haven't signed the paper petition, then please sign the e-petition. It's the last chance we'll get, we'll never get this chance again to sign against it."
You can sign the e-petition by clicking here and following the subsequent instructions.
