Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) has confirmed that the fire at County Hall, the headquarters of Nottinghamshire County Council, has been successfully extinguished.

No one has been injured in the blaze which began this morning (Thursday 28 July), not long before 11:30am.

It is believed that the fire started on the first floor of the building which is located in West Bridgford, and quickly spread across four floors.

Fire crews from London Road, West Bridgford, Stockhill, Edwinstowe, Mansfield, Carlton, Stapleford, and Bingham stations attended the incident and were supported by crews from neighbouring counties Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

A statement issued on social media by NFRS this afternoon said: "We are scaling down the incident as the fire is now out. We are continuing to do checks inside the County Hall to ensure there are no pockets of fire in the building, and likely to be at the scene until late evening.

"Thankfully, all persons have been accounted for and there have been no reported injuries.

"A fire investigation will now commence to determine the cause of the fire.

"Thank you for your patience and cooperation whilst we have been dealing with this incident."
