Former Rugby League star Kevin Sinfield will run through Hucknall today (22 November) as part of his fundraiser, 'The Extra Mile Challenge', for motor neurone disease research.

Sinfield, 41, is running 101 miles in 24 hours, starting at Welford Road, the home of Leicester Tigers, where he is currently a coach, and finishing at Headingley home of Leeds Rhinos for whom he made 521 appearances for in a near 20 year career.

He is running in honour of his former teammate Rob Burrow who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019.

The run will be split into 7km segments, with each one having to be completed within an hour.

The leg that will take in Hucknall will begin at Bulwell Forest Golf Club before seeing Sinfield go through Butlers Hill, on to Nottingham Road, Portland Road, through Hucknall High Street, onto Baker Street and up Annesley Road before heading towards Sutton-in-Ashfield.

He is expected to reach Annesley Road, the final part of his route through Hucknall, at 4:40pm.

Sinfield had set himself a target of raising £100,000 but according to his fundraising page he has already raised over double that total.
