Ashfield District Council is offering free weekend parking in its council car parks for the whole of December.
Sundays are free all year round but as of this weekend, residents can park at any of the Ashfield District Council owned car parks for free on Saturdays as well throughout this month.
This is part of the Council's drive to encourage residents to support local businesses by shopping locally.
The free parking will start on Small Business Saturday which takes place on 3 December.
The car parks in Hucknall which will be free are Hucknall Market Place, Piggins Croft, and Yorke Street.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Jason Zadrozny has championed the initiative and is pleased to see it return.
He said: "Christmas is my favourite time of the year and it's the ideal time to reaffirm our commitment to our wonderful traders by offering free weekend parking.
"Our gesture of free weekend parking will support residents and businesses to make the most of the festive period. This is part of our campaign to encourage residents to shop local. Shopping locally is an excellent way to cut down on travel and support our local businesses."
Councillor Nick Parvin, Ward Member for Hucknall Central said: "I'm delighted that yet again parking is free in our Market Place and Piggins Croft car parks every weekend in December.
"We are hoping that this will provide a much needed boost for town centre traders in Hucknall. As a Council, we have done a huge amount this year to support our traders including our hugely successful Food and Drink Festival in Hucknall. Christmas is the most important time of the year for our traders and we hope this will attract more and more residents to shop local."
