Air Cadets in Hucknall had their awards evening this week, seeing several members achieve hard-earned promotions.

Monday's (13 December) dark and damp evening saw the 1803 RAF Air Cadet Squadron on Watnall Road line up their parade square to celebrate fellow cadets achieving further leadership qualifications and an increase in rank.

Amy Sheldon, Tula Bacon and Nicola Saxton were promoted to Sergeant, whilst Naomi Richardson became Flight Sergeant.

The Hucknall Squadron currently has 44 cadets, with ages ranging from 12 to 18 years in all genders. In addition to learning leadership and first aid skills, and shooting qualifications, cadets also have the opportunity to parachute and even learn flight skills. The Duke of Edinburgh award scheme also plays a large role in the organisation.
