Hucknall residents living in the Central Ward of the town will be casting their votes today (Wednesday 23 November) to elect a new District Councillor.

The by-election comes following the sad passing of Ashfield Independent Councillor Jim Blagden at the end of July.

Polling stations opened at 7am and will close at 10pm, giving the public a 13-hour window in which to cast their vote.

Nick Parvin is standing for the Ashfield Independents as they look to hold the seat. He is yet to respond to Hucknall Nub News' request for a comment.

Former Labour District Councillor John Wilkinson is looking to win back the seat he lost in the 2019 election. You can read about his policies and priorities by clicking here.

Jan Lees is standing for the Conservatives and looking to deliver the first victory for the party in this ward at a District Council election since 2007. You can read about her policies and priorities by clicking here.

The results are set to be declared late tonight.
