A Hucknall church is holding a service of commemoration for Queen Elizabeth II this weekend.

St Mary Magdalene, the Parish church on Hucknall marketplace, will hold the service to reflect upon and celebrate the life of the Queen, who died at the age of 96 on Thursday (8 September).

The service will take place on Sunday (11 September) at 4pm and the church has stressed on social media that 'all are welcome'.

This follows the church opening its doors yesterday and today between 10am and 12 noon and 2pm-4pm to provide residents somewhere to sit, pray and remember. There is currently a picture of the Queen and a lit candle at the front of the church to act as a focal point for visitors.
