Hucknall firefighter to take on Snowden challenge for charity
A Hucknall firefighter will be embarking on an epic challenge in the name of charity later this month.
Jude Brough, who is an on-call firefighter at Hucknall Fire Station, will be walking up Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, in full fire fighting kit and breathing apparatus on Monday 24 April.
He is aiming to raise £1085, £1 for every metre of elevation that Snowdon is above sea level.
The money raised will be spilt equally between the Firefighters Charity and mental health charity, Sport in Mind.
Mr Brough is the son of the late Jamie Brough, a local businessman who founded Sports Gateway which runs sports education programmes across the East Midlands.
He will be accompanied on the challenge by his colleagues from Sports Gateway and some of his students.
Speaking to Hucknall Nub News, Jude said: "I felt as though climbing up Snowdon wasn't enough for me, I felt as though I could and should incorporate a charitable aspect to it all.
"With myself just starting out as a firefighter I thought it would be a great chance to get that side of things into play, with the BA (breathing apparatus) set and full fire kit and then of course with the Sports Gateway team, in memory of my Dad.
"The two charities were chosen for obvious reasons, the firefighters charity as they support every firefighter across the UK and Sport in mind as they offer mental health support to those who need it dearly through the use of sports and physical activity, just liked my dad loved to do."
