The Open Weekend which had been scheduled to take place at Hucknall Leisure Centre and Lammas Leisure Centre in Sutton this weekend (8/9 January), has been moved to Saturday January 22 and Sunday January 23.

This will allow both centres to showcase the vast array of upgrades that have been implemented.

Both sites are run by Everyone Active on behalf of Ashfield District Council.

Hucknall has undergone a raft of improvements, headed up by a spectacular new 120-station gym.

A new earth studio focuses on holistic activities such as Pilates, yoga, and barre, in addition to a new indoor cycling studio and new main studio.

Front of house has been refurbished and a new wellbeing hub is in place for community groups to use.

New wet change facilities are under way and plans for a second swimming pool have been submitted.

Everyone Active's contract manager, Lorenzo Clark, said: "The Open Weekend will allow people to see the fantastic work that has gone in at Lammas and Hucknall and to experience the facilities for themselves.

"Both centres have been hugely improved and there is more to come in 2022, including the amazing new teaching pool at Hucknall and the launch of a superb new site, Kirkby Leisure Centre."

Councillor Rachel Madden, cabinet Member for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing, said: "Millions of pounds have been invested at Lammas and Hucknall leisure centres, with more still to come. They feature some of the area's best fitness and leisure facilities, with something for all ages and abilities.

"I encourage residents to come along to the Open Weekend and see for themselves what's on offer. Whilst other areas are seeing a decline in leisure facilities, Ashfield District Council is committed to investing in our leisure centres and sports facilities, and knows what an important part they play in residents' health and wellbeing."
