A Hucknall man is set to release his very first short film, which was shot in the town, next month.

Bradley Severn, who works as a nurse, has always been a film fanatic from a young age and has used his spare time to pursue his passion.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News he said: "I've always loved films ever since I was small. The family I'm from, every time there was something new out in the cinema we were there to watch it. It's something I enjoy. I've always loved how some of them look visually.

"I've not actually had any formal experience, it's all sort of hands on learning, finding a camera, recording, seeing how it looks and then learning from that. I have been helping a few friends film a few interesting short films in Hucknall but we've not uploaded any."

Mr Severn will use The Arc Cinema on the High Street as the main setting for the film which is entitled 'A Picture of Memory.'

He continued: "So the story line in a nutshell is it's a World War Two veteran that visits the cinema every day, he sees on the side of the cinema there's a new world war film out. He visits every day because he's struggling with his memory so I'm sort of trying to tie it in with Alzheimer's slightly, he's struggling with memories, and he visits the cinema because it helps him to relive some of the time he served in the war. He'll watch some of the world war film and he'll have flashbacks to when he was in the war."

Alan Hutchins will star as veteran Alan whilst the scenes involving Alan as a young soldier in the war will feature a Second World War re-enactment society from Cambridge giving those scenes an authentic feel.

When the film, which will be around ten minutes in duration, is completed, Mr Severn plans to upload it to his Youtube channel before submitting it for entry into a number of film festivals including the Hucknall one which is held in January.

"I just sort of thought now is the time I try to make something that's mine and I'd really like to make a short film where Hucknall was the heart of the film because that's where I'm from."

There are also provisional plans for Mr Severn to have some screenings of the film at The Arc Cinema where some of the audience's ticket price will be donated to an Alzheimer's charity. The final details of which are set to be finalised closer to the release of the film.

When asked about The Arc Cinema, who have allowed Mr Severn to film on their premises, he said: "They have been absolutely amazing really, they've been so supportive."
