Mark Spencer, the constituency MP for Sherwood, which includes the town of Hucknall, has changed government roles in the cabinet reshuffle.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson carried out a mini reshuffle of his Government ministers today (Tuesday 8 February).

One key change is that Mr Spencer has been removed from his position of Chief Whip and replaced by Chris Heaton-Harris, the MP for Daventry.

Mr Spencer had held the position since Boris Johnson first became Prime Minister in July 2019. However, he has come under scrutiny in recent weeks following allegations that his office tried to blackmail MPs to prevent them from submitting letters of no confidence in the Prime Minister.

He also identified himself as the Whip Nusrat Ghani MP made allegations to The Sunday Times about. She claimed he had given her Muslim faith as one of the reasons for removing her from her position as a junior government minister.

There is still a place for Hucknall's MP in Mr Johnson's cabinet though as he has been appointed Leader of the House of Commons replacing Jacob Rees Mogg, who is now the minister for Brexit opportunities and government efficiency.
