Hucknall MP Mark Spencer will remain as Chief Whip it has been confirmed in a statement from Downing Street.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is carrying out a cabinet reshuffle and has made a number of high profile changes notably at Foreign Secretary, Education Secretary and Justice Secretary.
However, Mr Spencer, whose Sherwood constituency currently includes all of Hucknall, something which is currently under threat, will remain in the post he has held since the summer of 2019 when Boris Johnson became Prime Minister.
The Chief Whip is primarily responsible for ensuring that members of the party attend important parliamentary votes and vote the way in which the Prime Minister wishes them to.
He was first elected as MP for the constituency of Sherwood in 2010 by the slender margin of 214 votes. Up until that point, the constituency had been seen as a safe Labour seat, with Paddy Tipping holding a fairly comfortable majority since gaining the seat in 1992. However, his decision not to stand at the election in 2010 due to ill health saw the seat 'turn blue' for the first time since 1987.
Mark Spencer has successfully held his seat on three occasions increasing his majority each time, with his 2019 victory seeing him hold a majority of over 16,000.
