There is a mixture of fear and anxiety on the street of Hucknall tonight following an attempt to break into a cash machine on the town's High Street in the early hours of this morning .
Despite the perpetrators escaping empty handed the incident has made local people and businesses uneasy.
Mehdi, who works at The Shak, the Turkish barber shop which the cash machine is outside of, said this wasn't the first time the machine and the shop had been targeted.
Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, he said: "Before we had the same happen. I plan for them to take out the cashpoint, calling for the company [sic] because this is not safety for my shop."
He was first alerted to the problem when he arrived to work at around 9am this morning and saw the shop surrounded by police.
Julie Chamberlain, who works at a shop in Hucknall said the attempted theft had made her feel "really nervous."
Ms Chamberlain said: "As you get older, I think you are a bit more aware of bad things happening, the kids round here have got no respect."
Local resident Mark Davies said: "It doesn't surprise me. You read of it more and more often don't you? It's becoming part of everyday sadly. I just think across the country, I wouldn't say Hucknall's any worse than anywhere else.
"It just shows you can't trust anybody really despite all the cameras we have up in today's society; it's not deterring them.
"Whatever you do they're always one step in front so it's just a matter of vigilance more than anything I suppose."
Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to call police on 101 quoting incident 76 of 14 September.
