Nottinghamshire Police has launched a new scheme that provides a fast-track route into policing for active Special Constables.
Special Constables are volunteer officers who wear the same uniform and have the same powers and responsibilities as regular police officers.
Now, courtesy of this new scheme active Special Constables can now join the force directly without having to pass the national online assessment centre (OAC).
This means that if successful through the application process, candidates can quickly transition into becoming fully-fledged police officers without going through the traditional application process.
As well as being a current serving Special Constable there are other criteria that interested candidates must meet in order to apply. These include being assessed as suitable for independent patrol and being able to show full and consistent operational competency; being assessed as being able to conduct independent patrol and having completed a minimum of 200 hours per annum; and having up to date and evidenced officer safety training and fitness testing.
There are two one hour live online information sessions next week about the scheme that Special Constables can register for. The first one is next Tuesday (12 October) between 12pm and 1pm and can be registered for here. The second one is next Wednesday (13 October) between 7pm and 8pm and can be registered for here.
