An infant school in Hucknall has secured another 'good' rating from Ofsted following an inspection in March.

Butler's Hill Infant and Nursery School, situated on Broomhill Road, retained the second highest grading which it has held since November 2012.

The full report was published late last month and praised the dynamic between staff and pupils, as well as the students' approach to learning.

The report stated: "Butler's Hill is an inclusive school. Staff have high expectations of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Relationships between staff and pupils are warm and nurturing. Pupils feel safe, and know that they can share any concerns or worries they may have with any adult in school.

"Pupils engage well in lessons and show excitement about their learning. Pupils are happy, and feel proud of their school and of the extra responsibilities that they can take on."

One of the areas of suggested improvement within the school was in its SMSC (Spiritual, moral, social and cultural) curriculum. The report states: "Pupils' understanding of the fundamental British values is not secure. Pupils struggle to recognise or relate these values to their everyday lives. Leaders should ensure that they enhance pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development well, in all respects, so that pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain."

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, after the report was published, head teacher Rachel Hallam, said: "I am delighted to be able to share that Butler's Hill Infant and Nursery school remains a GOOD school! I am incredibly proud of the staff team and children, who make it such a special place to work and be. The inspector noted, 'Leaders have created a 'family feel' ethos. Staff are a united team and are keen to involve the local community in the learning opportunities planned for pupils and in their charity work.' We have committed and dedicated staff, who genuinely care for every child.

"As a school we agreed and had already identified the points for improvement. We never stand still and I'm excited to see what we can achieve in the future!"
