A Hucknall pub has reopened under new management today (Friday 2 June).

Green Dragon, on Watnall Road, opened its doors at 12pm, with the pub having been closed since December last year when the previous owners moved on.

The pub's new manager, Chantelle, known as Chan, has over 25 years of experience in the pub industry. Her last management role was three years ago at The Monkey in Bulwell.

More recently she worked behind the bar at Green Dragon itself, which she feels will give her a good platform ahead of taking the reigns at the establishment as she knows a lot of the locals.  

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, she said: "I like to have a nice community pub with lots of locals, your pool and darts, a game of Bingo and a laugh with a singer or tribute act, I'm that sort of operator.

"The lady who had it before me, Julie, I know her. I came and worked for her just before she left. It was put to me that the job was open and that's why I took it because I've been in this pub before.

"The vision for this place is to be playing Motown, Soul, 80s music, Country and Western, to make the middle-aged generation feel comfortable in a pub. We're going to have tribute acts on once a month."

The pub will begin by predominantly serving popular lagers as well as the usual wines, spirits, and soft drinks you'd expect to find, however, should the launch be successful and the pub finds itself doing well, Chan will consider expanding into real ale.

Asked what she would say to people living close to the pub perhaps intrigued by its reopening, she said: "Pop in give us a try, we're very welcoming, pop in and see what difference we're making."

"I'm very family orientated and that's what I want this pub to be. I want families to come in and feel safe."

Chan is also keen to emphasise that the pub is completely dog friendly, not something that many pubs in the town can boast. As a big dog lover herself she didn't want to exclude owners out with their dogs who fancied a mid-walk refreshment.

Next Saturday (10 June), Green Dragon will host its official reopening party which will feature live music and a buffet which Chan is 'excited' about and hopeful that it will draw in a large crowd. More details about this, including the dress code, can be found by clicking here.
