Hucknall Town thrashed struggling Clifton All Whites 5-0 in a game played under the floodlights at Watnall Road last night (Wednesday 22 September).

Goals from Tom Hubbard, Courtney Bartley, Jordan Phillips, Craig Westcarr and Michael Banister saw the Yellows record their fourth home win of the season and at the same time demote Clifton to the foot of the table on goal difference.

The win moved Hucknall up to fifth in the Uhlsport United Counties League Division One table, just two points off the top.

This followed a draw away at Kirby Muxloe in Leicestershire on Saturday (18 Septermber) which means The Yellows have taken four points from a possible six following their disappointing exit from the First Qualifying round of the FA Vase at the hands of Gedling Miners Welfare .

Following the draw with Kirby Muxloe, speaking to the club's website, Hucknall manager Andy Graves said: "Our finishing ultimately let us down today, but I can't complain too much because no one means to miss chances. The effort was there throughout, and we caused numerous problems for a decent side who have got a decent home record.

"It's disappointing because we need to be more ruthless in front of goal to win games like that, but I thought we played well overall."

It was clear following last night's display that the players had heeded Graves' words.

Next up Hucknall travel to Radford this weekend (Saturday 25 September) in the league knowing that a win will take them top as the four sides above them are playing in the FA Vase.
