The Hucknall branch of JTF Mega Discount Warehouse will reopen tomorrow (Thursday 23 September) for the first time since July.
The chain which has eleven stores across the country, was plunged into uncertainty in the summer when it went into administration. The Hucknall shop, on Daniels Way closed on Friday 16 July and did not open on the following Monday .
However, Poundstretcher agreed a late deal to buy the company two weeks ago and is steadily reopening each existing JTF store.
The Hucknall staff have been restocking the shop and preparing it to reopen for the last seven days. Many staff have returned to their jobs, with some who had secured new jobs following the initial closure, electing to hand their notice in so they can return to JTF.
Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, store manager John Bradbury said of his team's efforts over the last week: "Absolutely amazing, I couldn't have done it without them they've all worked their socks off; so proud of them. It will be all hands to the pump until late tonight."
Mr Bradbury, who himself has worked for the company for the last nine years admitted it had been a difficult time with all of the uncertainty surrounding the company's future.
He said: "The last time we were paid was 7 July, we got one furlough payment, apart from that we've had nothing. It could very much have been it (for the company).
"This store is very profitable. The model of what our stores do is correct, sometimes the Head Office costs outweigh the model of what you're doing, so to be bought by somebody who's already got the infrastructure in place makes it a really good venture."
The shop will open at 10am tomorrow but beyond that the normal opening times will be 9am until 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
There is plenty of everyday stock available but other items such as plants and furniture will take a little bit of time to arrive.
Mr Bradbury said: "It's a phased opening so we open it immediately with the everyday products and then it's a build from there. Obviously we've got to build with suppliers, Poundstretcher might not have worked with these suppliers before so it takes time to be able to get those contacts going and then from there then we can build and get the stock brought in.
"The stock that will be here next week, will just build from there. It's going to be regular stock as well. The prices now are going to be including VAT whereas before they were excluding VAT so it's going to be interesting."
All customers will require new membership cards, which will be issued free of charge in the store tomorrow.
Mr Bradbury added: "We will be issuing new membership cards on the day; it'll be an easy process. We're going to make it as easy a process as possible. We're also giving a free bag for life and bottle of sanitiser to every customer as well."
