Hucknall Town recorded back to back convincing victories in the Uhlsport United Counties League Division One to lift themselves up to fifth in the table, just two points off the top.

The Yellows recorded a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Bourne Town on Saturday. Jordan Phillips, Cayne Maxwell and Adam Nelson were on target for the hosts.

It also marked Town's first clean sheet of the season which will no doubt have pleased manager Andy Graves. When he spoke to Hucknall Nub News last week Graves described himself as a "… clean sheet man," and lamented the lack of them at that point in the season.

Hucknall followed up Saturday's victory with a dominant display away at Borrowash Victoria last night (Wednesday 8 September) as they secured a 4-0 win. Goals from Craig Westcarr, Michael Banister, Jordan Phillips and Louis Kinnerley gave Town all three points and moved them firmly into promotion contention at this early stage of the season.

The players have a break from league action this weekend as Hucknall play in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase. They will welcome Gedling Miners Welfare to Watnall Road, just ten days after the sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in their league meeting. In the Vase there must be a winner on the day so if necessary a penalty shoot out will be used to decide who progresses to the Second Qualifying Round.
