Hucknall will host its very own food and drink festival next month on the pedestrianised part of the High Street.

The festival is due to take place on Sunday 22nd August and will mark the first time in Hucknall's history that it has hosted such an event.

Ashfield District Council, with partners Discover Ashfield and Lincoln Green Brewery, are putting on the event which will run from 10am – 5pm. So far there are over 20 stalls lined up, selling a variety of artisan food, drinks, produce and gifts.

There will be freshly made hot food including authentic Neapolitan pizzas from B'Reyt Dough, Turkish street food from Istanbul Grill, and luxury crepes from Rupert Mole. Homemade gooey brownies and sourdough donuts will be on offer from Taartie, alongside stuffed cookie cups from Outlaw Cookie Club. There will be plenty to choose from for cider and ale lovers, with a variety of breweries exhibiting including Hucknall's own Tokard Cider and Lincoln Green Brewery.

Councillor Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council, said "We are so excited to be able to bring this Food and Drink Festival to Hucknall, the first of its kind in Ashfield. We have attracted traders from all over the county, and beyond, to bring some of the best food and drinks to Hucknall.

"After the last 18 months that we have had, it feels amazing that we will be able to host such a large event to bring the community together for the first time. The Food and Drink Festival is set to be a huge celebration and is just one of the events and activities that we have planned for this year as part of the Welcome Back Fund."

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News, Anthony Hughes, founder of Lincoln Green Brewery, said: "The festival was inspired by the success of the similar event held at Belper, Derbyshire. Belper recently won 'High Street of the Year' and the Food Festival helped to achieve that; I'd love to see some similar success for Hucknall in the future. Hucknall has expanded with many new homes in recent years and all our new residents deserve great places to visit and things to do. If we can attract enough vendors and visitors to the event on Sunday 22 August 2021, it'll give us confidence to repeat the event annually."
