The leader of Ashfield District Council, Jason Zadrozny, has tabled proposals to split the town of Hucknall across two Parliamentary constituencies.
The proposals will be discussed at the latest Ashfield District Council meeting which takes place tonight, Thursday 29th July.
The plans would see the District of Hucknall West join the Ashfield constituency whilst the rest of the town would remain in Sherwood. Conservative Chief Whip Mark Spencer is the town's current MP but if these proposals are successful, Hucknall West would have Conservative backbencher Lee Anderson as an MP.
The idea is one of a number of constituency tweaks suggested, which if voted through by the Council, would be passed on to the Boundary Commission for them to accept or reject.
The Boundary Commission is currently reviewing every parliamentary constituency and is in the consultation period of the process.
As Hucknall Nub News reported last month , the Commission had originally decided that Hucknall would remain in Sherwood but Councillor Zadrozny is now aiming to change that.
The town of Hucknall has been part of the Sherwood constituency since it was formed in 1983.
