Nottinghamshire Police is to hold two webinars to help people protect themselves against Black Friday scams.

The online sessions will take place next Thursday (24 November) – a day before the Black Friday event officially starts in the UK.

The first webinar will take place at 1pm and is targeted at business leaders. The one-hour online session will cover the latest cyber threats, frauds, and scams, and how to mitigate them, just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday three days later.

The second webinar will start at 6pm and will help members of the public improve their online security. The one-hour session will offer simple, non-technical advice to attendees on how to protect their online accounts, avoid scams and pay safely over this Black Friday.

Both sessions are free to attend and will be held by Nottinghamshire Police's Cyber Protect team.

Cyber Protect & Prevent Officer Kirsty Jackson said: "You don't need to be a computer expert to avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime or other scams. Just developing a few good online habits can drastically reduce the risk of you becoming a victim and that's why we're hosting these webinars.

"Places are limited so please book as soon as possible."
