Plans to convert a Hucknall pub into nine flats have been submitted to Ashfield District Council.

The application outlines converting The Yew Tree on Nottingham Road and the first floor flat above it, into eight one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom flat.

The Yew Tree closed its doors for what ultimately proved to be the final time in February this year.

From that moment, rumours were rife that the venue would never reopen as a pub but it has taken the best part of six months for the plans to convert the building to be submitted.

Within the application form the description of the proposed development reads: "Proposed Conversion of Existing Public House and First Floor Flat in to 9 No. Flats and External Alterations @ The Yew Tree PH, 2. Nottingham Road, Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, NG15 7QL."

If the application is successful, it won't be the only pub in Hucknall being converted into residential property. An application to convert The Portland Arms on Annesley Road into one one-bedroom flat or maisonette and two one-bedroom bedsit studio flats was approved last month.
