Plans to build a pair of semi-detached houses on a 'derelict' piece of wasteland in Hucknall have been submitted to Ashfield District Council.
The proposals, for St Patrick's Road, would see two, three-bed houses built, each with two off-street car parking spaces.
The kerb would also need to be dropped.
The application form states: "The proposed dwellings will reflect the nearby dwellings in terms of design and scale to ensure it compliments the existing street scene.
"The proposed dwellings have been designed, taking into full account of the councils' residential design guide with particular attention being paid to the amenity, parking and internal space standards.
"The proposal represents a modest, but nevertheless important boost to the district's housing supply, providing two new dwellings in a sustainable, main urban area location.
"The scheme would also provide a number of economic benefits that would be generated during the construction of the dwelling and occupation thereafter."
The plans also state that there will still be a passageway to allow access to the back gardens and to the public footpath leading to Hillside Primary and Nursery School.
Two objections have already been made to the scheme.
One states that there is already "heavy traffic and parking congestion in this area".
Adding: "I am also concerned about the rear access opening out directly onto a public footpath that the is used by the local school, dog walkers, pedestrians and the hazards this would bring to all.
"The fact that the rear access opens onto the footpath clearly highlights that there is insufficient space to put two properties on the plot."
There have also been three notices of support, mainly focusing on improving the look of the street by removing the "unsightly wasteland".
