Southwell Minster will hold a special Celebration service to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty the Queen Consort.

The event, which is being organised jointly with Nottinghamshire County Council, will take place on the morning of Sunday 7 May, the day after the Coronation itself takes place at Westminster Abbey.

Those taking part in the service will include the Lord-Lieutenant Sir John Peace (the King's representative in Nottinghamshire) and the High Sheriff Professor Veronica Pickering, and civic leaders from across the County will be attending.

The service will be led by the Dean of Southwell, the Very Reverend Nicola Sullivan, and the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, the Right Reverend Paul Williams, will preach.

Music will come from the Cathedral Choir – fresh from their appearance leading worship on national television in the BBC One Easter Day service from the Minster – and it is hoped that a lone piper will also be playing, in an echo of the service taking place at Westminster the previous day.

There will also be contributions from Nottinghamshire's young people and from representatives of Nottinghamshire's Christian and other cultural traditions, in a service that aims to celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of Nottinghamshire in the twenty-first century.

The service begins at 11:15am on 7 May, and everyone is welcome to attend. It will also be live streamed on the Minster's website which can be accessed by clicking here or via its YouTube channel.

Dean Nicola said: "The Coronation will be a really special weekend for us all. This service is meant to bring together people from across all our communities to celebrate everything that we are, and to mark the beginning of a new and exciting period for Nottinghamshire and for the whole country."
