State-of-the-art photovoltaic solar panels have been installed at Hucknall Leisure Centre which will help create a free sustainable source of energy to heat the new swimming pool.
The installation marks a milestone in the regeneration of Hucknall Leisure Centre along with the extra training pool which is set to open in the coming months following a £5m investment.
The project is part of Ashfield District Council's wider aim to reduce the carbon output across its services and along with its working partners.
Leader of the Council, Jason Zadrozny, visited Hucknall Leisure Centre to see the solar panels and said: "As the new pool nears completion, we can now see the new energy saving and carbon neutral technologies we have implemented. We will continue to strive for innovation, regeneration, and transformation for Hucknall."
John Wilmott, Councillor for Hucknall North, said: "It is tremendous to see the progress at Hucknall Leisure Centre. The new solar panels will ensure that residents can take advantage of the amazing facilities knowing that they are doing themselves good whilst causing no harm to our environment."
