A mechanical issue with the pump system led to Hucknall Leisure Centre's swimming pool being closed for a short period of time this morning (Tuesday 8 March).

The Leisure Centre posted on its Facebook page: "Due to technical difficulties we have to close the swimming pool for now (Tuesday 8th). This means all public swimming this morning is cancelled. We will keep everyone updated for later swims and swimming lessons.

A councillor said asking Nottinghamshire parents to pay for branded school uniforms during a cost of living crisis is "utterly ridiculous".

Councillor Daniel Williamson (Ashfield Ind), who represents Kirkby on both Ashfield District and Nottinghamshire County Councils, criticised schools which say children must wear uniforms branded with their logo or emblem at an increased cost to parents compared with generic plain school clothing.
