There are two highly anticipated new releases this week. The first is Spencer starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana in the biographical drama which is a fictionalised depiction of the events of Christmas 1991 where despite her strained marriage to Prince Charles, she has to attend Christmas festivities at the Queen's Sandringham Estate.

The Independent Alliance at County Hall have accused the Conservatives of 'financial mis-management' after leader Ben Bradley confirmed the cost of the Gedling Access Road is now £8.6million over budget.

The road was originally meant to have cost £40million. Last month, the Council estimated that this will cost £5.4million more – this has now gone up to £8.6million.

Nottinghamshire County Council hired a former councillor into a senior officer role six months after he lost an election – despite a rule saying ex-councillors shouldn't take paid jobs on authorities until 12 months have passed since they last held an elected role for that council.

The authority filled the post of Executive Officer to the Senior Leadership Team (Ruling Group) last month, hiring former Hucknall Conservative councillor Phil Rostance.
