Hucknall Town manager Andy Ingle was pleased with the reaction of his players in the second half of their league clash against Harrowby United on Saturday, a game they went on to win 3-2.

In their very first competitive match at their all-new RM Stadium, The Yellows found themselves 1-0 down at half-time thanks to a Jack Arbon strike.

However, following a frank half-time team talk, the Hucknall players produced a much more convincing performance in the second half to turn the game around.

Goals from Kieran Knight, Aaron Lamb, and Kai Wilson put the hosts in a commanding position. And despite an Elliot King header and a flurry of late pressure after Joe Butler was sent to the sin bin for dissent, Hucknall held on to begin life at their new home with three points.

Speaking to the club's official website, Ingle said: "Having the lads air their views between themselves and after an honest team talk, we felt we had enough answers to put it right in the second half.

"Slight adjustments to our midfield shape and moving us higher up the field helped us in how we wanted to be playing and this certainly played its part with all three goals, with good build up play and a quicker passing tempo and good finishing for all three."

"(It was) A slow start from us today and in large parts, particularly the first half, we didn't look anywhere near what we wanted. We paid the price for poor concentration and giving up too much time and space conceding the first goal. It could have been two had Louis Kinnerley not turned an earlier chance round for a corner. Signs of having the long break were definitely showing, that said it was the same for Harrowby, but they looked to be wanting it more at this point. I felt we grew more frustrated with each other as the first half closed, so a much needed chat was needed at half time".

Ingle also praised the Hucknall fans, after the club recorded an attendance of just under 400 for the historic game.

He added: "Also notable was the terrific attendance of the fans and the atmosphere they were creating, they made themselves heard with each goal and dare I say some questionable decisions by the officials. At three one the decision to protect the lead was taken which meant changes of personnel.

"With Joe Butler being sin binned leaving us with 10 players for the last 15 minutes of the game, we conceded a second and nearly a third as they had a shot hit the post. Running down the clock and managing the game to its end, saw a tight finish. Job done three points and lessons to learn ready for Wednesday's game".

Hucknall's next game takes place tonight (Wednesday 11 January), as they welcome high flying Bourne Town to The RM Stadium; the game kicks off at 7:45pm.
