Hucknall Town climbed into fourth position in the Uhlsport United Counties League Division One table following a 2-0 away win over West Bridgford on Saturday (1 October).
Goals from Aaron Lamb and substitute Joe Butler secured all three points for the Yellows and condemned the hosts to their ninth defeat from their opening 13 matches.
It was a dominant display by the visitors who went close twice early on through Kieran Knight before Lamb hit the post with a shot from distance.
Then, 18 minutes in, Lamb opened the scoring with a contender for goal of the month, unleashing a spectacular first time strike from 25 yards which flew into the net, giving the West Bridgford goalkeeper no chance.
Hucknall continued to press for a second goal throughout the first half with Joe Ashurst forcing a sharp save from the 'keeper and Craig Westcarr heading a corner narrowly over the crossbar.
Despite creating a numerous amount of chances, they couldn't find another goal and had to settle for a 1-0 lead at half-time.
They managed to kill the game off as a contest with around 15 minutes remaining as Butler, on in place of Morgan Bell, slotted home a second to give the visitors more of a cushion.
From this point, Hucknall were able to see the game out comfortably to notch up their seventh win of the season and move above Lincolnshire based side Blackstones on goal difference in the play-off places.
Their next league match sees them host eighth placed Kirby Muxloe at Watnall Road on Saturday (8 October).
