Hucknall Town's first match at their new ground has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
The Yellows were due to play at the RM Stadium for the first time this afternoon (Saturday 10 December) in an Uhlsports United Counties Division One clash against Blackstones.
Unsurprisingly, the match was called off following a pitch inspection this morning. Hucknall has endured heavy frosts overnight for the last couple of nights, meaning there has been doubt surrounding whether or not the game would go ahead since yesterday.
With the visiting side needing to make a 100-mile round trip to fulfil the fixture, the sensible decision was made to schedule an early inspection to avoid a wasted journey.
Ultimately, this proved to be the correct decision as the conditions were ruled to be unplayable.
On their official Twitter account this morning, Hucknall Town tweeted: "After a 10am pitch inspection we have to announce that unfortunately this afternoon's match against Blackstones is OFF. The christening of the main pitch will now have to wait a while…"
The club now hopes to play their first game at the ground next Saturday (17 December) against Bourne Town.
However, the club will still be televising England's World Cup Quarter Final against France tonight which kicks off at 7pm.
The clubhouse and bar will be open from 6pm for fans and members of the community to watch Gareth Southgate's men attempt to reach their second consecutive World Cup semi-final when they take on the defending champions.
