Residents from Hucknall and across Nottinghamshire are being encouraged to enter a special photographic competition which celebrates the county and all it has to offer.

'Nottinghamshire in 2022' has been launched to help mark a Jubilee year of landmark events in the county – including the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, County Day and the Tour of Britain.

A motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a collision has died.

The 40-year-old man was riding along the A38 Alfreton Road, just off Junction 28 of the M1 at around 6.30am on Tuesday morning when he was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

Plans to build two more homes near boarding kennels in Hucknall are not likely to be given the go-ahead by councillors after being deemed an "inappropriate" development on greenbelt land.

Ashfield District Council had previously granted outline permission for the two houses, at the Linby Boarding Kennels, in Church Lane, to couple other small developments on the land.

Hucknall Leisure centre is set to offer free membership to people living with Parkinson's from this month.

Five new family homes belonging to Ashfield District Council have been built in Hucknall and will soon welcome tenants.

The three two-bedroom and two three-bedroom homes are located on Barbara Square which is the third of four derelict sites to undergo regeneration in Hucknall.

The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean Flying Skips proved a huge success as they collected a staggering 125 tonnes of waste – equivalent to the weight of a Boeing 757 airliner.

The Flying Skips, which were actually touring bin lorries, visited 64 locations across the District, including 20 in Hucknall, as part of this year's BIG Ashfield Spring Clean.

All lanes have now reopened.
