Residents from Hucknall and across Nottinghamshire are being encouraged to enter a special photographic competition which celebrates the county and all it has to offer.

'Nottinghamshire in 2022' has been launched to help mark a Jubilee year of landmark events in the county – including the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, County Day and the Tour of Britain.

Plans to build two more homes near boarding kennels in Hucknall are not likely to be given the go-ahead by councillors after being deemed an "inappropriate" development on greenbelt land.

Ashfield District Council had previously granted outline permission for the two houses, at the Linby Boarding Kennels, in Church Lane, to couple other small developments on the land.

Hucknall Leisure centre is set to offer free membership to people living with Parkinson's from this month.

Along with other local leisure centres run by award-winning operator Everyone Active in partnership with Ashfield District Council, the Linby Road based venue will take part in the new initiative alongside charity Parkinson's UK. It will launch on World Parkinson's Day – Monday, April 11.

Plans to turn a former care facility in Hucknall into a home for people recovering from brain injuries will go before planners again next week – but papers show concerns raised by councillors have not been fully addressed.

Ashfield District Council's planning committee deferred the application, at 37A Ogle Street, during a meeting in March over concerns with the management of the site and the facilities proposed for residents.
