A site manager in charge of a new homes development on the border of Linby and Hucknall, has won one of the most prestigious accolades within the housing industry for the third year in a row.

Gary Archer, who works for Bellway's East Midlands division, is one of just 26 site managers in the National House Building Council's East region to achieve a Seal of Excellence in this year's Pride in the Job Awards.

The independent administration at Ashfield District Council has been accused of "squashing democracy on purpose" after not allowing opposition councillors to speak on a petition calling for its local plan to be scrapped.

The full council meeting on Thursday (December 2) saw members of the public attending to oppose the controversial housing document.
