Ashfield District Council are asking residents to shop small this summer to support local businesses.

Ashfield is home to a wide variety of independent businesses, many of which are here in Hucknall.

To help attract shoppers back into town centres, Ashfield District Council have reintroduced two hours free parking in all Council owned car parks provided you have a ticket. This includes Piggins Croft, Market Place and Yorke Street car parks in Hucknall. There will also be exciting town centre trails and activities across the District during summer to look forward to.

Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council said "The past year has been extremely difficult for most businesses in Ashfield. It's great to see all the traders who unfortunately had to close during lockdown, open up again and see our town centres filling up.

"We also received the amazing news that we have been awarded the full £62.6m from the Towns Fund, which will allow us to make improvements across the District.

"We really want residents to come out this summer and shop small, our small businesses have been there for us throughout the pandemic, now it's our turn to support them."
