Fire crews worked through the night to bring the blaze on the industrial estate on Wigwam Lane in Hucknall under control.
A statement from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service read: "Two crews remain at the fire on Wigwam Ln, Hucknall to dampen down. Fire investigation is due to continue later today."
The fire which began on the first plot of the industrial estate apparently engulfed vehicles parked on the plot as well as materials that were stored there such as staging and flooring.
Thick black smoke billowed across the Hucknall skyline for much of yesterday afternoon and residents were advised to keep their windows and doors shut.
Police closed off nearby roads including Wigwam Lane and advised people to avoid the area if possible.
Business owners are still waiting to assess the damage but have not been allowed on site yet.
Explosions could also be heard from the scene and the force was such that the lampshade in the golf shop on Wigwam Lane fell from the ceiling.
However, nearby businesses on the industrial estate that were unaffected by the fire have been able to work as normal today.
In a completely unrelated incident, crews from Hucknall and Stockhill Stations attended a wheelie bin fire on Hucknall High Street at around 5:30 this morning (Monday 15 November).
