Residents from Hucknall and across Nottinghamshire who want to know more about devolution are being encouraged to attend a free, informative online event which will take place this evening (Wednesday 4 January).

Last August, the Government confirmed that a £1.14 billion devolution deal was on offer for the East Midlands, covering Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Derby, and Nottingham.

The deal will provide the region with a guaranteed income stream of £38 million per year over a 30-year period. Covering an area home to around 2.2 million people, an East Midlands combined authority would be one of the biggest in the country.

Since that announcement was made, a public consultation was launched but this closes next week on Monday 9 January.

Now, Nottinghamshire County Council are putting on an online event from 6pm until 7:30pm tonight, to give residents more of an understanding of what devolution is and what it would mean for towns like Hucknall.

There is no need for attendees to book in advance. The session, which will be held over Microsoft Teams, can be joined online by using a link which will be available on the devolution website before the event begins.
