Hucknall Town were frustrated by a resilient Clipstone side on Saturday (28 January) as they were held to a 0-0 draw at The RM Stadium.

The Yellows went into the Uhlsport United Counties Division One clash looking for their sixth consecutive win to maintain their place firmly inside the play-off places.

However, they came up against a team making their own charge towards the play-off places courtesy of back-to-back wins over Rainworth Miners Welfare and Clifton All Whites respectively.

It was a more interesting game than the scoreline suggested but a combination of good goalkeeping and a lack of clinical finishing meant that the 325 strong crowd, the largest attendance at a step six non-league game in England on Saturday, weren't treated to any goals.

Craig Westcarr had the best chances for the hosts in the first half forcing two good saves from Clipstone's goalkeeper Josh Turton.

In the second half the visitors were denied by the crossbar as with 13 minutes to go Tim Gregory's effort cannoned off the woodwork and bounced to safety.

Into the last ten minutes, Hucknall spurned two fantastic opportunities to clinch all three points as they missed two penalties.

Westcarr, on the eve of his 38th birthday and normally so reliable from the spot was the culprit, putting the first one over the bar and seeing his second well saved by Turton.

These misses definitely left Hucknall fans with the feeling of two points dropped rather than a point gained as the referee's whistle sounded to bring to an end a frustrating afternoon.
