Hucknall Town produced an excellent second half performance to thrash West Bridgford 4-1 at The RM Stadium on Saturday (14 January).
A Kieran Knight hattrick and a penalty from Craig Westcarr helped The Yellows claim another crucial three points which moved them to just a point behind second place Bourne Town.
The first half was a fairly low-key affair in which neither side created much of note, only Hucknall's Connor Whiles came particularly close to breaking the deadlock as he struck the post, with just over five minutes until half-time.
However, just as had happened last week against Harrowby, the home side found another gear in the second half.
It took just five minutes for Knight to open the scoring, to send another large partisan crowd into raptures.
Just before the hour mark, Knight helped himself to his second, after good work from Westcarr.
The visitors responded quickly with a goal from substitute Harry Hudson who had barely been on the pitch for five minutes.
Hucknall didn't panic and four minutes later had restored their two goal cushion. Westcarr, as reliably as ever, dispatched a penalty to give the hosts a bit of breathing space.
Then with 15 minutes to go, Knight completed his hattrick with arguably his best goal of the game before being substituted to give the fans chance to show their appreciation for his performance.
There was one further bit of positive news for the hosts as Kieron Lane came on for the final five minutes, five months after he suffered a broken tibia against Dunkirk.
Hucknall are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Grantham Town.
