Hucknall Town scored seven goals as they romped to a comfortable victory over a struggling St Andrews side on Saturday (19 November).

The win puts them level on points with third place Bourne Town in the Uhlsport United Counties Division One table.

The Yellows got off to a flying start when Joe Ashurst netted nine minutes in to break the deadlock.

Craig Westcarr, who had been denied just a few minutes earlier, doubled Hucknall's lead with 20 minutes gone, his 19th goal of the season in 23 appearances.

Club captain Aaron Short turned in the third three minutes later, diverting an Aaron Lamb shot into the back of the net.

Ashurst helped himself to his second and Hucknall's fourth with seven minutes of the half remaining, it would prove to be the final goal of the half.

The hosts were probably hoping Hucknall would sit back in the second half, content with their first half display and for a while it looked very much like this would prove to be the case.

Kaden Stokes then grabbed a consolation goal with little over 15 minutes left to give the scoreline a more respectable look.

However, a late flurry from The Yellows saw substitute Jo Butler grab a hattrick in around 15 minutes, which included two in stoppage time, to pile on the misery for the home side who are now just one place and four points clear of the relegation zone.

Hucknall are back in action on Saturday when they travel to second place Birstall United in what promises to be an exciting match-up.
