Hucknall Town striker Craig Westcarr was pleased to grab both goals in The Yellows' 2-0 away victory last Saturday at Bourne Town.

The 37-year-old found the back of the net at crucial points in the match to break the resolve of the Lincolnshire side.

With just under 20 minutes remaining Hucknall looked like they were going to be frustratingly held to a draw until Westcarr struck with an impressive finish to give the visitors the lead.

Speaking exclusively to Hucknall Nub News about the goal, he said: "The guy's (Bourne defender) cut it out but then I've caught it, checked back, then put it in. It was a good goal.

"I think it was a bit of relief that we could actually get the breakthrough because I think anyone who scores the first goal, the other team will struggle, so it was good."

The former Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Mansfield Town player then added a second in injury time to guarantee Hucknall would come away from the match with all three points.

Westcarr added: "We played patiently just to wait and bide our time really, chances were always going to come it was just when and whether we could take one of them and fortunately for us we took them so it was good."

With Hucknall missing out on promotion last season after defeat in the play-offs and a change of manager over the summer, there was some doubt as to whether or not Westcarr would remain at the club for a second season.

However, he was happy to commit to the club for another season and is really enjoying playing under new manager Andy Ingle.

"It's nice to play under the new boss, I was always happy to stay. I spoke to the new manager and he was good and he outlined what he wants and his ideas for the club and he was really good; I'm really enjoying it."

Hucknall Town's next match is at home to Birstall United tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 20 August).
