Ashfield District Council has a superb summer of events lined up for local residents and Hucknall will be a key location, hosting half of them.

The council's 2023 events calendar kicks off with a once-in-a-generation event: the King's Coronation on Saturday 6 May. Residents are invited to Titchfield Park, Hucknall to bring a picnic and friends and family to watch the Coronation live on the big screen. This will be followed by a cinema style screening of a yet to be announced film.

The outdoor cinema then returns to Selston Country Park  a month later, on Saturday 24 June for the third year. Once again, residents will get the opportunity to vote for the film they would like to see.

After the success of the first Ashfield Day last year which saw over 12,000 visitors flock to Sutton Lawn, the event is back this year. Ashfield Day will be held on the park in Sutton on Saturday 5 August and promises to be bigger and better, featuring an array of activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

The final event of the summer will see Ashfield Food and Drink Festival at Hucknall return to High Street in the town centre for the third successive year. The previous events saw over 4,000 visitors enjoying the different food and drink from the best producers in the East Midlands. This year the event will cover even more of Hucknall's High Street and will showcase residents' favourites as well as new traders.

Full details of all of the events will be released within a few weeks. Any businesses interested in sponsoring any of the events are asked to please email [email protected].

To apply to be a market trader at Ashfield Day or Ashfield Food and Drink Festival email [email protected] for an application form.

Councillor Jason Zadrozny, Leader of the Council, said: "We are so excited to be able to provide quality free events for our residents. We had an incredible turn out to all our events last year and we can't wait to see even bigger numbers this year for our Superb Summer!"
